Personal encounters of the aquatic kind
+In today’s very competitive tourist market you can increase your sales by making your whale watching tours more attractive by adding live whale and dolphin sounds for your passengers to experience. The cost? Fewer refunds.
How many times have you gone out with a boatload of guests and glimpsed only a few distant whales? Most of the action is underwater with a few brief visual encounters. But, with your DolphinEar hydrophone you will be able to hear nearly continuous vocalisations. Your guests will be amazed and delighted. You get great reviews instead of grumbling reports from people who feel cheated. Proudly announce that you are doing whale WATCHING and LISTENING tours. Make some recordings that you can use on your website or ticket office.
Use one of our DE200 hydrophones. For small boats use the DE200-8 with an 8 metre cable. For larger boats use the DE200-16 with a 16m long cable. Plug the headset amplifier into your own speaker system. It’s quick and simple to set up and a joy to use.
The ocean is loud, alive and so much more complex than we think! Don’t miss out! If you are going on a whale and/or dolphin watching tour boat, make sure it’s equipped with a DolphinEar hydrophone so you can hear as well as see. Whales and dolphins can coordinate, flirt, argue, hunt and call each other across huge distances.
Humpback Whales in French Polynesia recorded using a DolphinEar PRO series hydrophone
Whales and dolphins can usually be heard long before you see them. In fact, listening to them is ofter the best part of your whale ‘watching’ experience.

Nature's choreographers
One of, if not the, most exciting natural encounters.

Group listening
Enhance the experience for everyone with a DolphinEar Hydrophone. Now you can hear the dolphins coordinating their next display as well as see it.

For that one unlucky person always looking in the wrong place
See Whales and dolphins for only seconds when they breach but listen to them underwater for minutes at a time.

Hear what you can't see
More things happen under the sea than above it. Most of a dolphin’s perception and communication uses sound waves, not light waves.

Mutual fascination
Dolphins appear to seek out boats and people and are seemingly enamoured by the happy shrieks of young children.

Visualize dolphin vocalizations
Using the spectrogram software that comes with our hydrophones, you can see the different calls and, with practice, identify individual voices within a pod.
